**I had dinner with Karli and Ling yesterday. The food was not so great, I even forgot the name of the resto where we dined. Basta nasa Megamall Atrium siya, and the waiter boasted about a salad that came from Tessie Tomas. Friend daw kasi siya ng may-ari ng resto. Buti na lang mainam pa rin yung kwentuhan namen nina Karli and Ling na hindi na masyadong naging focus ang bland na pagkain. Mas nag-enjoy pa kami sa dessert sa DQ.

**Nakapag-open na ako ng payroll account sa Citibank. SA WAKAS!! I was promoted May 2009, and since then, our HR and payroll peeps had been bugging me to go to the nearest Citibank office and open an account. Sa kanila na kasi yung payroll ng managers. E ayoko sana kasi masaya talaga ako sa BDO account ko. Biruin mo, if ma-hassle ka sa haba ng pila, you can use it as EPS.

**Saturday night, some friends and I planned to go to this tiangge in BF. Kaso hindi kami natuloy kasi 9pm pa lang, nagsasara na daw yung iabng stalls. So kasama ko naman sila Smile and Neil kaya we decided to just watch 2012 sa Town. It was still early, mga 915pm, kaya we decided muna to go to some shops na bukas pa. Mga 10pm, we decided to buy tickets already, since kumpleto na ang cast ng mga sasama sa movie, ang kaso, "all seats taken" na sa tatlong sinehan ng 2012. Biruin mo, pati yung 1115pm na LFS, puno na din.

So we ended up scouring for a coffeeshop instead. Super full ang Starbucks. Someone suggested na lumipat kami ng Madrigal, pero naisip ko na panu kung puno dun, mas lalo kaming walang mapupuntahan. Ayoko naman sa Coffee Bean, wala naman kasi atang nagpupunta sa Coffee Bean eh! Hahaha! So sa kakalinga-linga namen, we saw that the area that used to be Seattle's Best is now Cafe Mary Grace. E close kami nyan ni Mary Grace, ching lang. Haha! Masarap ang hot chocolate sa place na yan, at masarap din ang lemon squares nila, lasang lemon.

**Sunday night, bumalik kami ni C ng Town. Kasi nga gusto talag naming paunorin yung 2012. Maaga kaming dumating ng Town, mga 9pm. Inisip namen baka wala nang tao kasi Sunday night, me mga pasok kinabukasan ang mga tao, pero wag ka. Nagkamali kami. Sa entrance pa lang, nadismaya na kami kasi ang haba na ng pila. Hindi na kami masyadong nalungkot when we were told sa counter na wala nang tickets.

Nag-decide na lang tuloy kaming maghanap ng makakainan. Fish & Co,. was tuned to CS9, showing the Pacquiao fight, so ayun, sa gitna ng fish, chips at carbonara, nanuod na lang kami ng laban ng boksingero ng bayan.

According to the most recent survey, Noynoy Aquino will most probably win, which is awesome, because even more Kris Aquino news will flood the tri-media, blurring the line between showbiz and politics even further, so that soon our kids will not know the difference between heads of stations and movie outfits and cabinet secretaries.

But none of the bad stuff, because we know that Cory and Ninoy raised them - Balsy, Viel, and Pinky (see, I actually know them) - to be nice little God-fearing boys and girls. The beaming quintessence of a devout Filipino family who can do no wrong.

Five years ago, joint military troops and HLI security people fired on the picket line of protesters. Protesters who have been in the hacienda even before Noynoy was born. They were protesting the sad state of their employment with the Cojuanco's. Which is absolutely odd because who would protest and speak up, risk their miserable lives, if after all the deductions, your monthly salary amounts to a whopping P9.50.

Your eyes are fine, folks.

Of course, Noynoy is blameless. He was only senator when this happened, and his shares in HLI are diminutive, almost insignificant. What can he possibly do? What can he possibly do?

You vote for him in the 2010 polls and decry any future inaction, perhaps denounce a scandal, or demand accountability for an overlooked agenda, and expect to get the same retort: what can he possibly do?

me and bob met online more than a year ago and bonded over a common liking for flared pants. according to him, the easiest place to find flared pants is in northern india where almost every guy wears them.

bob is the only person i know of who speaks nepali, aside from 5 other languages. i could only speak 2, and understand a little of a 3rd language. but hey, the guy knows nepali. true he can't speak to anyone in nepali here but still -- how cool is that?

even before i moved to mandaluyong, i've been asking him that we meet up for a few drinks. when i moved to manda (where he also lives), i always invite him whenever i have friends over at the chairless apartment. but we never met until last night in this diner along shaw near cherry foodarama. appropriately, it was a spur-of-the-moment thing.

the guy is sporting a mohawk right now and is considering getting a mullet. of course i am morally obliged to stop utterly ridiculous ideas like that, despite being me being prone to utterly ridiculous ideas myself.

i was the only one who had a bottle of beer. and while i was drinking my beer and mosquitoes were drinking his blood, we talked about missing pants, awesome drunken moments, aling dionisia, boys, and beer bellies. he ordered fried tofu with some mildly spicy but remarkably tasteless sauce, while i thought i ordered chicken bolognese pasta but was served pasta with chicken, mushrooms and a sweet and sour coconut-based sauce.

for a spur-of-the-moment thing, it wasn't bad at all.

The boyfriend calls shenanigans but since I figure everything (except murder, incest, and rape) is worth a try, I gave in and got myself a bottle of Bio Enzyme Seaweed Slimming Lotion.

I just started using it yesterday, Sunday, and for 790 a bottle, it better damn work. I’m not quite sure how or why this is supposed to be slimming, but I’ve always had this idea that spa seaweed wraps work in a way that the seaweed absorbs water from your body… which is about as useful and effective as a crash diet and this, my friends, makes me a little stupid. BUT my mom says a friend of hers lost excess chub around her arms using the seaweed slimming lotion (my arms have always been my problem areas) and well, my mom would never lie to me.

I find myself in a Catch-22, though: in order to test if it really works, I’d have to forgo working out (at least) this week; now if I don’t work out and the product proves to be ineffective, I get fat.

So we had a bazaar this weekend and it sucked eggs. Not a lot of people showed up, and I think a big chunk is because it wasn't that publicized. Anyway, so Saturday evening I decided it was time to make a new batch of vanilla extract.


I know of some people who reuse the vanilla beans they ferment in the same jar, but I sincerely doubt the flavor/essence won't ever run out (as some people say). Anyway, I didn't have any more Russian vodka that our wine supplier gave us, so I used Skyy Vodka.

Last 11 November 2009, COMELEC officially denied Ang Ladlad the chance to participate in the 2010 party list elections. COMELEC said that Ang Ladlad advocates doctrines that are immoral, and that it promotes the abuse of the youth by older gay men. COMELEC cited the Holy Bible and the Koran as the basis for calling Ang Ladlad immoral.

Ang Ladlad is a national organization of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgenders (LGBT) that advocates the human rights of LGBTs in the Philippines. It has been trying to participate in the party list elections since its inception in 2003, and it has been twice denied accreditation.

In 2007, Ang Ladlad was denied participation in the party list elections because, according to COMELEC, there are no gays and lesbians outside Metro Manila; they said that Ang Ladlad only represents the Metro Manila community. As a side comment, then COMELEC chairperson Ben Abalos said that gays and lesbians will not vote for Ang Ladlad; gays and lesbians are too embarrased to come out during the day, so they make like phantoms, coming out only in the dark.

COMELEC raises fresh hell in 2009 by calling all gays and lesbians immoral. According to the COMELEC resolution,Ang Ladlad "tolerates immorality which offends religious beliefs. In Romans 1:26, 27, Paul wrote:

'For this cause God gave them up into vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet'.

In the Koran, the hereunder verses are pertinent:

'For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women "ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds." (7.81). "And we rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): Then see what was the end of those who indulged in sin and crime!" (7:84) "He said: "0 my Lord! Help Thou me against people who do mischief!"(29:30).'

I will not even attempt to enter the discourse of religion in order to defend Ang Ladlad and my lifestyle. That discussion is best left among me, my Church, and my God. However, this arena that COMELEC belongs to is a political arena, and the discourse should be politico-legal. The COMELEC decision should have been based on legal documents and existing public policy; COMELEC did not provide any, and it lifted its judgment entirely from the Bible and the Koran.

My problem with the COMELEC decision is that it invariably violates the separation of church and state, and that it presupposes that the Bible and Koran are legal documents when they are not meant to be so. It would be so funny if it weren't so sad that guardians of our most sacred ballots are idiots whose pompous self-righteousness are horribly misplaced.

Using the Bible and the Koran to disqualify Ang Ladlad is like using a biology textbook to prove the existence of God: the material used is grossly disproportionate to the dimension of discussion. The Bible cannot be used to define what is legally moral: it is a document that was not designed to function that way. Precedents from earlier cases on morality, documented legal cases, and accepted public policy should be used for this purpose. If COMELEC decides to disqualify Ang Ladlad on the basis of morals and good customs, it cannot use the Bible and Koran. COMELEC should look somewhere else.

Also, the passages quoted by COMELEC were lifted from www.bible.org. The commisioners did not even bother to pop open a Bible.

The COMELEC decision also includes a quote from Lehmann Strauss: "Older practicing homosexuals are a threat to the youth." The quote was also taken from the internet, the very same www.bible.org. COMELEC relied on Strauss as the authoritative source for this declaration.

Lehman Strauss may have been a good man, but he is hardly an authoritative source for matters as complex as sexual orientation and religion. He worked as a pastor from 1939 to 1963, and he hosted a radio show. Apart from that, I cannot find any information on his published studies.

I am gay, am growing old, but am definitely not threatening the morals of the youth. As my good friend said, "Hindi tayo THREAT. In fact, tayo nga ay mga TREAT to the youth."

The COMELEC decision was poorly founded, ill-researched, and badly written. It was wrong to use the Bible and Koran in a politico-legal discussion; the COMELEC should start going through official documents of the Supreme Court, like any other implenter of public policy should. They should visit a library soon, and leave the internet to the youth who are trying to find love in their lives. They should also mind their own business, because whom we fuck is our business, not the government's.

After the 9 teenagers from hell sat beside me on the train today, I now know the true meaning of the term 'bogan'.

I saw them today, up close and personal, in the wilderness, in their natural habitat. Such a magnificent variety of mullets and rat tails, bru. Such elegant Gucci baseballcaps.

But i don't really care what folks wear and wouldn't be poking fun at them if they weren't the biggest bunch of hooligans ever. Hooligans who shout, swear, throw bottles and accidentally hit other passengers, beat each other up, oggle and make wolf calls at women who walk by which is really kapalmuks because none of them look like they've even sprouted a full set of pubes yet. They were blowing spit bubbles (yes, I swear this is true), standing and jumping on the chairs, banging things, and basically just bouncing off the walls.

There should be an emergency bottle of cloroform on trains for crowds of obnoxious teenagers. Or maybe they just hadn't sniffed their rugby yet. Should have traded them my sharpie for money.

These kids were unreal. They were caricatures of what it means to be total losers. They were almost beyond offensive, they were a sociological case study for Small Penis Syndrome.

Ok, so they were young. But if those were my kids, I would sell them into slavery, or insist they were switched with other babies in the hospital nursery after being born. I wonder what the chances are of any of them becoming brilliant doctors or lawyers when they grow up (if they ever grow up). Yes, they were that idiotic.

Thank god they got off at Granville. Thought I'd have to endure them till Blacktown. The cops only came AFTER they had left. This started out as a Facebook status update, and has expanded to LJ entry length. I hope you enjoyed it.

one of the best things that happened in my life when i was a kid was lego.

whenever we went to greenhills, it was mandatory for us to drop by gift gate in shoppesville. i had to check out if there were new lego sets for me to build. i would often cry, actually, always cry, when dad won't let me get the lego set that i wanted. but whenever i get a new one, i was in heaven.

but i outgrew my lego fantasy. there's just some other people who cannot outgrow them. thus, these:

I missed the 9:30 mass, so I'm sitting half-naked in my room coz I don't wanna rumple my clothes while I wait for the 11:00 mass. I'm very rarely on time for mass, even if the church is walking distance from my house. My brother came up with the Papuri system. For him, if you manage to creep inside the church during the Papuri sa Diyos, then you're not really late. And it sorta stuck.

I'm supposed to be preparing for a presentation at the moment, and while I've looked through the materials, I'm mentally budgeting my time today so that I'll have time to do shit. A huge swath of my time today is gonna be dedicated to the International Bazaar. My dad handed me a ticket in my dreams while I was half-asleep. I'm hoping that I don't run out of salmon. The international bazaar is the only place in Manila where they sell good smoked salmon for a decent price.

Mmm... mass is in 25 minutes... maybe I should get dressed now...

The advantage of living near a church is that I can hear the songs they sing from my window. I think I'll wait for the Papuri.

…and I liked it. The girl I’m talking about, after all, is Katy Perry.



I recently attended her press con and while it was great seeing her, it was also nice to see some old faces, like Edwin, Mark, Louise, Jad, and Marla. I also bumped heads with Andi, who I interviewed for a magazine a looong time ago. She didn’t instantly recognize me with my new hairstyle, but we were just staring at one another, and then eventually said hi to one another. I also saw Sib, who some people say looks like me (or sige na nga, I look like him). We were three feet from one another and when I looked at him, I didn’t feel like I was staring into the mirror. He looks like a totally fasyown, cool dude so I’ll say hi the next time.


Going back to Kitty Purry, she looked so serene and composed (and maybe lazy and low-energy) during the press con that it got me thinking: was it just jet lag, or was she sad about how all net proceeds of her concert will be going to the Philippine National Red Cross? LOLers. Perfect reason to watch the concert, don’t you think so? See you at the SM MOA concert grounds tonight at 8PM. American rock band MAE, Arnel and Neal or Journey, plus Jed Madela (Party at Jed’s room! as suggested by Sib) will also be performing.
